Israeli SaaS cloud computing OwnBackup raises $50m

Israeli cloud-to-cloud business continuity platform OwnBackup today announced the completion of a $50 million financing round led by Insight Partners, and with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Vertex Ventures and previous investor Innovation Endeavors. This brings the company’s total funding to over $100 million.

The latest funding will be used to accelerate product development and expand marketing to achieve OwnBackup’s vision to provide one place where executives can backup, protect, and analyze their mission-critical and increasingly complex software-as-a-service (SaaS) data.


Northflank announces $2.6M seed to create end-to-end DevOps workflow in cloud

Northflank, a startup from a couple of guys in their 20s, has been working on a full-stack DevOps platform in the cloud since their first year at university in 2016. Today the startup announced a $2.6 million seed investment and the launch of that platform. 


UK Cyber Startups Raise Almost £500m During First Half of 2020

UK cyber-startups have raised £496m in funding during the first half of 2020, already close to eclipsing the record £521m invested in these companies last year, according to the London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement (LORCA)’s new study, The LORCA Report 2020. However, the analysis revealed that just 1% of this money went to companies securing first-time funding. This means a funding gap is emerging due to investors focusing on growth-stage cyber-firms, which have received 94% of the funding so far in 2020.


AI cancer treatment startup Nucleai raises $6.5 million in series A round

Tel Aviv-based cancer detection startup Nucleai Ltd. has raised $6.5 million in a series A round led by Lausanne, Switzerland-based biopharmaceutical company Debiopharm Group, the companies announced Tuesday. Existing investors Vertex Ventures Israel and Grove Ventures Capital (GP) Ltd. also participated in the round that brings Nucleai’s total funding raised to $11.5 million.

Nucleai’s software uses computer vision and machine learning algorithms to predict the progress of cancerous tumors as well as the patient’s immune system response in order to determine the most efficient course of treatment. The company intends to use the funding for research and development and for increasing its commercial reach to pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
